So far, ‘Citrus Season 2’ has not been officially announced, so there is no release date for the second season of this anime, but the question is if there will be a Citrus Season 2 and when it will be released.
Here’s everything we know so far regarding whether or not there will be a new season of Citrus and when it will be released.
The anime series Citrus, known as シトラス in Japanese, is based on a popular yuri manga of the same name that was first published in 2013.
The Citrus manga series is written and illustrated by Saburouta.
Citrus is a great romance yuri anime series with drama elements loved by people worldwide, which follows Yuzu Aihara who was forced to transfer to a new school. To a fashionable socialite like Yuzu.
This is a new opportunity for her to fall in love and finally experience a first kiss.
The anime television series Citrus has only had one season so far directed by Takeo Takahashi and animated by Studio Passione.
There is no word on if the studio or director will return for Citrus Season 2.
The first 12-episode Citrus television anime series premiered in Japan in January 2018. Since then, this series has amassed a sizable fan base that is still waiting for Citrus Season 2 Episode 1 or some sort of sequel.

Will There Be Citrus Season 2?
Citrus Season 2 will never happen. Unfortunately, the Citrus anime was not a financially successful adaptation. That is why the second season of this anime was never planned. There aren’t many anime adaptations of yuri series since they typically don’t sell well.
Furthermore, the series concluded in 2018 with volume 10, thus there is nothing to advertise anymore.
The Citrus anime didn’t earn much money. Citrus Blu-Ray sales average around 1,100 copies, which is low, and there is practically almost no merchandising or figures created for this series.
Also, the latest volume of the manga sold less than 20,000 copies, and that was after the anime adaptation, so I don’t believe there’s any chance for a season 2 of Citrus.
In addition, the company that animated this series, studio Passione, moved on to other popular anime projects like Higurashi or Mieruko-Chan.
As a result, there is no reason why the production committee would ever agree to fund another season of this series.

Citrus Season 2 Release Date
There is no official release date for Citrus Season 2 because a second season was never confirmed, canceled, or announced, so there is no countdown, and a release date is never going to be announced because a second season will never get announced.
This is one of the anime sequels where I can confidently state that a new season and release date will never be announced.
There are simply too many factors working against this series to ever receive additional anime projects.
These are just rumors for now, but the sequel manga Citrus Plus will get anime adaption. So if that is successful, then who knows, maybe his anime will get another season.
We will update this post if there is any news or a release date by some miracle for a new Citrus anime project on the Citrus official Twitter account.
If you’ve lost hope for a new season of the Citrus anime, you can start reading the manga from volume 5. The first season of the anime only covered volumes 1 through 4.
