The buzz around artificial intelligence (AI) has shot up ever since ChatGPT made a strong entry to the field, with the technology constantly evolving.
Thousands of jobs
There are 45,000 artificial intelligence job openings in India, as per a report released by TeamLease Digital.
Demand for these people
Among the roles in these 45,000 openings, data scientists and ML engineers were some of the most sought after people, the report said.
Rs 14 lakh!
Data engineers and machine learning engineers can earn about Rs 14 lakh a year even as freshers, the report said further.
Massive increase in 8 years
By the time data engineers and machine learning engineers complete 8 years in the industry, they can earn up to Rs 40 lakh per annum.
Rs 12 lakh for these roles
On the other hand, DevOps engineers and data architects can earn around Rs 12 lakh a year in the industry as freshers.
4 lakh with AI knowledge
The report also mentioned that 4 lakh professionals have AI knowledge in India, which makes up for 16% of the global AI talent base.
What's stopping us?
Around 80% of Indian engineers do not have the skills to meet expectations of employers in adoption of AI.
Low global share
On top of this, India's global AI investment share was just 1.5% in 2022.
