YouTube provides Restricted Mode to users who want to avoid “potentially mature” content from being shown in the home feed, recommendations, or anywhere else on the app.
This particular mode comes in handy when letting minors use YouTube. This ensures, to a degree, that the viewer doesn’t come across any ‘unsuitable’ content.
Launch the YouTube app and tap on the profile icon at the top right.
Next, tap on ‘Settings’.
Here, tap on ‘General’.
Scroll down and tap on the ‘Restricted Mode’ toggle to enable it.
Restricted Mode only applies to the app on the device that you enable it on. In other words, accessing YouTube elsewhere will not reflect the changes.
While enabling this mode on the mobile app doesn’t reflect changes on the desktop website, you can manually enable the same on your PC from the Profile section.
While Restricted Mode hides ‘mature’ content, it may not always work as intended. For instance, sometimes, the filter may even hide videos with no objectionable content.
