Amazon Has Begun The Second Round Of Layoffs

Amazon has announced the second wave of layoffs, laying off up to 9,000 employees.

18,000 employees have already been let go by the organization earlier this year.

The affected employees have received an email from the company's CEO, Andy Jassy, who said that Amazon is going through a challenging moment and would need to take this action to save expenses.

Jassy stated in the email, "We intend to eliminate about 9,000 more positions in the next few weeks—mostly in AWS, PXT, advertising, and Twitch. This was a difficult decision, but one that we think is best for the company in the long term."

The CEO of the company indicated that due to the recent overhiring, Amazon will now need to fire employees in order to cut expenses and make cautious use of its resources in light of the current state of the economy.

Amazon laid off 18,000 employees in January of this year, bringing its total layoffs to 27,000.

A separation payout, temporary health insurance coverage, and assistance in finding a job outside of Amazon are among the packages Amazon promise to offer.

The brand intends to wrap up its most recent round of layoffs by mid- to late-April.
