Most people often worship one God or the other, and few do it in fear, while some belief. But what if the worshiper turns warrior and fights against these supreme beings Well, Netflix s’ Record of Ragnarok brings this unique concept to our screens.
The plot starts with the meeting between the Gods to determine the fate of humanity. Humans have made the world inhospitable in 7 million years of existence by polluting oceans and burning forests. The Gods have decided that Humanity is beyond redemption and must be destroyed.
Valkyrie Brunhilde suggests the gathering to give humans an opportunity in letting them fight against the Gods to protect their race. The idea is accepted, and a no holds barred tournament is set up with thirteen fighters from each side.
The predicament is simple, and Humanity needs seven wins out of the thirteen to survive for another 1000 years. The Valkyries are provided to assist them against such godly forces, which can turn into any weapon.
The stakes are high, and literally, Life depends on it. How Humanity will save themselves against their creators is the show’s central storyline.

There were no further announcements regarding the Record of Ragnarok Season 2 release date. We expect season 2 will premier in the winter slate between late 2022 and early 2023.
Unless the creators decided to add more content to increase the pacing, Record of Ragnarok Season 2 will contain 12 episodes.
UPDATE 2nd July 2022: Record of Ragnarok Teaser for Season 2 has officially been released.
UPDATE 27th Nov 2022 : The official Record of Ragnarok Twitter account confirms that the first batch of season 2 episodes will be released in January 2023. On January 26th, 2022, episodes 1-10 will be available for streaming. Season 2’s official teaser was released earlier in 2022.
The manga is co-authored by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui with illustrations from Ajichika. Record of Ragnarok manga was first published in Monthly Comic Zenon on 25th November 2017.
As of writing, there have been 14 volumes that have been released, with the last one coming out on 19th March 2022.
Record of Ragnarok anime adapted the first 20 episodes or five volumes from the manga. It’s unsure how many chapters Record of Ragnarok season 2 will cover. But with just three fights in season one, it won’t be much different, is the assumption.
In the first season, we saw eight characters, with only six of them involved in the battle. So, going by that premise, Record of Ragnarok Season 2 will cover chapters 21 to 48 or 49.
Flipping through the manga, we can find that the sixth battle just finished, so it will take time for Record of Ragnarok season 2 to be adapted.
Record of Ragnarok manga has sold more than 10 million copies as of March 2022 in Japan. It got the 14th spot in the top 25 most sold manga in 2021.
Record of Ragnarok manga is rated 8.1/10 and ranked #407 with 103k members on MyAnimeList.
Record of Ragnarok’s final episode, “And the Ragnarok goes on,” was by far the best episode. We saw the God of seas, Poseidon, take on the Japanese swordsman representing humanity Kojiro Sasaki.
Despite the clear advantage in status and power with Poseidon, Kojiro, with his skill and Valkyrie weapon, chops up the God of seas in four pieces. This sends a shockwave within the Gods as Humanity gets its first win.
The final episode introduces Jack the Ripper, who will fight for Humanity in the next bout. This doesn’t go well with the humans as Jack was a serial killer in the streets of London.
After the death of his older brother, Zeus accepts the strength of Humanity and chooses the mighty Hercules as the next fighter. The episode ends with Jack and Hercules standing off each other in London street as the battleground.
Record of Ragnarok season 2 will start where the first season ended. The fourth battle of the Ragnarok will be between Jack the Ripper and Hercules.
The second season will also feature Shiva, the Hindu God of Destruction, who will fight the 17th-century sumo wrestler Raiden Tameemon. This will be the fifth round of the Ragnarok.
Finally, the sixth round will pit the founder of Buddhism, Buddha, against the God of Misfortune Zerofuku.
There was wide-found criticism for the fights in Record of Ragnarok season one. The animation behind the action scenes was cited as below par with the manga having much better illustrations.
Record of Ragnarok season 2 will have three fights, so the expectation is that Graphinica improves the animation and direction.
Record of Ragnarok season 2 will also be directed by Masao Okubo and scripted by Panetto Antony. Masaki Saito designs the characters, and Bezerra Ursula is the animation director. Yashura Takanshi provides the music.
Record of Ragnarok characters will only increase in numbers as the season one cast will reprise their roles. You can find the details of the voice cast below:
|Lu Bu||Tomokazu Seki|
Record of Ragnarok is a fun concept, albeit the animation looks rushed. The manga fans would demand better from the creators for Record of Ragnarok season 2. Let’s hope so; we all get some some-more God vs. Humans actions soon.
